Did you write poetry years ago, decades ago, or even quite recently?
Are you embarrassed by this poetry, yet instead of binning it, you keep it in a drawer somewhere and look at it occasionally because it connects you to a certain time in your life?
This is your chance to share that poetry.
It’s okay if it’s cheesy, corny, overwrought, or awkward (all the better!)
Please sign up for this in advance, because we’re going to trade poems. Here’s how it’s going to work:
- You’ll choose a single poem.
- It should be a poem that’s a bit embarrassing (aren’t they all?), but that still resonates strongly.
- The backstory shouldn’t be so recent, personal or painful that you can’t laugh about it.
- We’ll trade poems the day before the event.
- We’ll read each other’s poems with all the proper seriousness and drama.
- After each poem, the author will give a little bit of the backstory.
- Hopefully, we can laugh about these AND appreciate them as well.
- This is a pub night because we’re all gonna need a drink.
Anyone up for it? E-mail me through the link above or message me through the MinorOak Facebook page.
